Action man! Will Smith throws himself out of a window as he does his own death-defying stunts filming Men In Black III

Tuesday, June 7, 2011
By JODY THOMPSON

Long way down: Will Smith was pictured doing his own stunts and throwing himself out of a window while filming Men In Black III in New York yesterday

He's already got his work cut out protecting earth from the scum of the universe - so flinging himself out of the window of a highrise building while filming Men In Black III was par for the course for Will Smith yesterday.

Wearing the distinctive black suit of his character Agent J and holding a gun, the 42-year-old was seen flying through the air with the greatest of ease as he did his own stunts on the set.

Obviously, just out of shot was a great big crashmat, but it's still pretty impressive for a multi-millionaire movie star to get his hands dirty like this.

Flying without wings: The star would have been landing on a huge great crash mat however to cushion his fall

Keep on running: The star, who plays Agent J in the comedy sci-fi, was seen sprinting though the streets too

Will was spotted filming equally daring stunts as the movie shot on location elsewhere in New York last month.

Yesterday, he was filming in the Soho area of Manhattan for the movie, which sees Will's Agent J sent back in time to save Tommy Lee Jones's Agent K.

Josh Brolin plays the younger version of the character in the scenes set in the 1960s and 1970s.

Leap of faith: The star is reprising his role as Agent J in the movie, the third in the comedy sci-fi franchise

Back in time: Will with Men In Black III co-star Josh Brolin preparing to film another scene

Chilling out: Will goes through his paces between takes in the sunshine

Earlier in the week, the crew had turned parts of the city's Jamaica Avenue into 1969 New York by converting all the shopfronts to look retro and even stocking them with products from the time.

Film publicist Frances Fiore revealed Men in Black III also shot footage recently near the Unisphere and New York State Pavilion, remnants of the 1964 World's Fair in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

The blockbuster features Smith chasing an alien up one of the pavilion's towers, which becomes a spaceship and crashes into the Unisphere.

Retro in the metro: The film sees Will travel back in time to the late 1960/early 1970s

Preparing to launch: The movie will be another all-action affair as the Men In Black battle against aliens to protect the Earth from the scum of the universe

And...action! A crew member brandishes an electronic clapperboard near Will before he prepares to shoot the last take of the day

Smith and Brolin are joined by Tommy Lee Jones, Alice Eve, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Rip Torn and Johnny Knoxville in the third instalment of the sci-fi comedy.

Filming has caused some controversy so far however, when residents complained after Will's huge trailer blocked their views and way when it was parked in their street in Soho.

Crew were forced to re-locate the trailer to a parking lot.

The new movie meanwhile, the follow up to the last MIB installment some 13 years ago, is expected to be released next May.

Come on guys... be brave, says £20m singleton Emma Watson, 21

Monday, June 6, 2011
By LIZ THOMAS

Single: Emma Watson, who looked stunning in a green Marchesa dress at the MTV Movie Awards, says her fame intimidates men

With an enviable figure, a successful career and £20million in the bank, Emma Watson might expect to have would-be boyfriends queueing around the block.

Yet the 21-year-old Harry Potter star is currently unattached.

Miss Watson feels that many men are ‘intimidated’ by her.

Leggy lady: The 21-year-old actress showed off her enviable pins in the dress

And she gave them some simple advice: ‘Be brave.’

The elfin-faced Briton, who is busily promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part II), the final instalment in the series, told an interviewer that men rarely pursue her.

‘It must be the fame wall. It must be the circus that goes around me.

‘Me, as a person, I find it hard to believe I would be intimidating.’

She also revealed how some men feel the need to be rude or dismissive simply because she is famous and successful.

‘Sometimes, perhaps because they are intimidated, they feel they have to knock me down,’ she told the Sunday Times Style magazine.

All white on the night: Earlier in the evening, Emma arrived on the red carpet wearing a short white dress, also by Marchesa

‘They know perfectly well who I am, but say, “How are the Narnia films going?”.’

Billed as the ‘darkest’ Potter film yet, Deathly Hallows II will premiere in London on July 7 and is expected to break box-office records when it is released in cinemas on July 15.

Miss Watson’s character Hermione Granger accompanies Harry on his last attempt to beat Lord Voldemort and his dark forces.

The actress has postponed her studies at Brown University in Rhode Island to focus on her career, and is currently filming The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.

On stage: Emma also treated fans to an exclusive clip from Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Former love: Emma with financier then-boyfriend Jay Barrymore back in 2008

Rock chick: Emma also appeared in a music video for then-boyfriend George Craig's band One Night Only

Tom Hanks surrounded by London's D-listers at his Larry Crowne premiere

By ANDREA MAGRATH

I'd rather chat to the baby: The Oscar-winner made friends with five-month-old Tyler Sercombe

He's a double Oscar-winner and has been at the top of Hollywood's A-list for over two decades.

But Tom Hanks found himself surrounded by reality stars and glamour models this evening at the supposedly glittering premiere for his new film Larry Crowne.

The actor looked a little bemused as he posed on the red carpet, probably wishing he had his co-star Julia Roberts by his side to add a little more star power to the event.

Roberts will undoubtedly show up to promote the film at the LA premiere on June 27, but she left Tom to go it alone at the screening at Westfield shopping centre in London today.

Who are these people? Tom Hanks looks a little bemused as he poses on the red carpet of his film premiere for Larry Crowne at Westfield

Tom will have had trouble recognising most of the attendees, with the exception perhaps of Ronnie Wood and David Hasselhoff, who both brought along their young girlfriends.

Other than the Rolling Stone, the Baywatch star and one Cherie Blair, the guests at the premiere were primarily made up of ITV2's finest.

Colourful: Nicola McLean chose to show off her cleavage at the event, Kerry Katona opted for legs, while Danielle Brown broke traditional style rules and showed both

Kerry Katona posed up with her fellow Can Associates clients Nicola McLean and Danielle Brown.

Kerry looked svelte in a her multi-coloured mini dress, which showed off her golden tan from her and Danielle's recent girls trip to Marbella.

Nicola wore a black jumpsuit with a plunging neckline that put her surgically enhanced decolletage on prominent display.

Reality stars: The Only Way Is Essex stars Sam Faiers (left) and Lydia Bright both attended

TOWIE night out: Sam posed with her boyfriend Joey Essex on the red carpet, while co-star Harry Derbidge also attended

Elen Rivas was more casual - and far more demure than Nicola - in black jeans and clogs with a T-shirt and tweed jacket.

Also attending the screening were stars of The Only Way Is Essex.

Lydia Bright wore a gold dress with sequinned embellishment and nude heels, while her co-star Sam Faiers wore a nude maxi skirt with a cropped leather jacket.

Someone Hanks might recognise: Ronnie Wood added some star power, attending with his girlfriend Ana Araujo

Sam and Lydia were joined by Sam's boyfriend Joey Essex and their co-star Herry Derbidge.

She tweeted from the screening: 'Was in the same cinema with calzaghe, ronnie woods, the hoff, Tom hanks, and many more! Great film. X x'

Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Rihanoff, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and KT Tunstall all attended.

Coupled up: David Hasselhoff and girlfriend Hayley Roberts and Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Rihanoff attended

Lovely ladies: (L-R) Leonora Crichlow went for head-to-toe black, Katie Waissel showed off a new 'do and Sophie Ellis Bextor wore a flirty love heart dress

Former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel debuted yet another new hairstyle, arriving with long curly blonde locks after wearing her hair in a short crop for several months.

Tom stars in the romantic comedy (which he also directed), about a man who loses his job and reinvents himself by returning to college.

There, he develops a crush on one of his teachers, played by Roberts. The pair last starred together in Charlie Wilson's War in 2007.

Charmer: An animated Ronnie Wood gave Cherie Blair the giggles

First look: Miley Cyrus strips down to red bra and tiny shorts for her new film So Undercover

Thursday, June 2, 2011
Grown up: New pictures from film So Undercover show Miley Cyrus in a lacy red bra and orange shorts

Not so long ago, she was one of Disney's most beloved teenage stars, appearing on hit tween show Hannah Montana and playing sold-out concerts to thousands of young fans.

But Miley Cyrus is clearly growing up fast, judging by these photographs from her latest movie.

The 18-year-old star strips down to a pair of short orange and red night shorts and a lacy red bra in one scene from So Undercover.

The comedy film, released this October, features Miley as an investigator hired to pose as a sorority girl to protect a mobster's daughter.

'She's basically this chick who grows up as a super tomboy,' the actress and singer told MTV during filming last year.

Sorority sister: Miley plays a private investigator hired to infiltrate a college scene and make friends with a mobster's daughter

'She's an FBI agent and gets thrown into a bunch of girls that she doesn't understand because she's been around her dad who's been in the FBI his whole life.'

The new images show Miley wearing a variety of brightly coloured outfits, including a bright fuchsia pink top and shorts with matching accessories.

Pretty in pink: Miley wears an array of bright outfits including this bright pink number complete with matching bag and shoes on the film

In another scene she is seen getting close to co-star Joshua Bowman.

The singer and actress has clearly enjoyed her role in the film which stars Jeremy Piven and Kelly Osbourne.

'I've been doing fighting, like learning how to box, mostly like street fighting,' she added. 'If someone comes up from behind you, knowing how to be able to defend yourself.'

But filming was not without its pitfalls.

'I have a trainer and I have bruises everywhere from, like, kicking the bags. And I've learned how to use guns, which was really scary,' she said.

Flirtation: Miley's character Molly gets up close and personal with co-star Joshua Bowman

Miley also became close to her co-star Kelly Osbourne during filming, due to their similar upbringings.

Kelly told the Daily Record newspaper: 'I didn't know Miley well before. We had only met once or twice but as soon as we started shooting it was pretty instant how we got along so well.

'She just gets it. She has a really similar upbringing to me - though her side of things is on a completely different scale to mine.

'I'm from rock 'n' roll music and hers is country, but she gets it.

'It's nice to hang around an unaffected girl you can have fun with and understand what I go through and I understand what she goes through.'

Casual and chic: Miley sports several different looks in the film including a low cut white top with heavy eye makeup and a more casual checked shirt

Sinister new Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows posters revealed as fans prepare for release of final movie

Friday, May 27, 2011
By SARAH BULL

Sinister: Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, is seen here in a new poster for the upcoming movie Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part Two

Harry Potter fans are literally chomping at the bit waiting for the release of the final movie in the franchise.

And it seems the final instalment of the last book in the series, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part Two, could be the darkest yet, judging by three new posters of the film released today.

Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe, Hermione Granger, played by Emma Watson and Ron Weasley, played by Rupert Grint, are seen covered in dirt and blood as they pose in front of burning buildings in the new pictures.

Bearing the tagline 'It All Ends', the posters look dramatic, adult and incredibly final.

Readers of author J.K. Rowling's books will know how the story ends, but fans of the films are sure to want to see how the last book is translated onto the big screen.

The new film sees the saga of the boy wizard and his chums come to a climax after a decade on the big screen.

Darkest film yet: Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) stand in front of burning buildings in the posters

The story tells of Harry's final battle with his nemesis Lord Voldemort after he, Ron and Hermione have travelled the world to search for seven Horcruxes - the parts of the evil overlord's soul which have been hidden and which have to be destroyed in order to kill him.

As usual the film features a stellar cast including Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Brendan Gleeson, Richard Griffiths, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Helen McCrory, Bill Nighy, Miranda Richardson and Alan Rickman.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 follows on from the first part of the film, which opened in cinemas last November.

Final battle: Radcliffe and Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort face off in a scene from the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

That's magic: The boy wizard uses his wand in his final battle - but who will survive?

And the premiere of the upcoming film, the final Potter movie to be made, will be the first red carpet movie event to take place in London's Trafalgar Square.

Studio bosses at Warner Bros decided that the franchise and its stars have become so popular that the usual Leicester Square venue was no longer big enough for the gala event.

Talking about the movie in a recent interview, producer David Heyman said fans will be excited to see the final 3D version of the film.

Heart-rending: Amid the rubble, Ron Weasley, played by Rupert Grint, looks on as Hermione, played by Emma Watson, hugs Harry

There be monsters: A fire breathing creature is also thrown into the mix of what promises to be a spectacular finale

He said: 'Funnily enough I think this last film will benefit more from the 3D than the first one would have. It‘s more epic and operatic.

'The first one was a more intimate film so 3D didn’t feel as germane.'

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part Two is released in the UK on 15th July.

You might need a bigger scanner there Jack! A rotund looking Black goes through LAX security

Wednesday, May 25, 2011
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Hands up: Jack Black goes through a full body scan at LAX airport last night

He may voice a lithe Kung Fu expert in his latest movie, but Jack Black was looking a little out of shape as he headed through security at LAX airport last night.

The 41-year-old comic actor held up his hands and stood in front of the body scanner, in a pose which revealed his rather rotund figure.

And when he turned round, he showed the back of his T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan reading 'Pie 'N Burger,' revealing his fondness for the fatty foods.

The father of two was heading to New York for the east coast premiere of Kung Fu Panda 2, in which he reprises the voice of martial arts panda Po.

Animation star: Jack was heading to New York for the east coast premiere of Kung Fu Panda, with the back of his T-shirt reading 'pie 'n burger'

Jack also promoted the film in Los Angeles on Saturday, alongside co-stars Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu and Seth Rogen.

The star may have been looking a little rotund, but he showed he still has plenty of energy this morning on the film's red carpet.

All smiles: The actor looked his usual relaxed self as he headed towards the security checkpoint, clutching his laptop

He wowed onlookers by taking a few leaps on the red carpet outside the city's Ziegfeld Theatre and demonstrated his own martial arts style moves.

The 3D film explores Po's adoption and who his real father is.

'Those answers are explained,' Jack told USA Today. 'It takes it to a real emotional place that we didn't in the first film.'

Taking a leap: Jack showed off his energetic side as he demonstrated his Kung Fu skills at the New York premiere of Kung Fu Panda last night

'At first, I wasn't really into it,' he said. 'But then they showed me a clip of panda Po synced to my voice from High Fidelity, and it clicked in my head.

Like "That totally makes sense. My voice in that panda is going to be a funny movie."'

And Jack, who was joined by co-star Lucy Liu on the carpet today, is hoping to do a third instalment.

'I’d love to do more Kung Fu Panda, but it’s up to the audience to demand that,' he said.

Fooling around: Jack played up to the cameras by lolling on the floor and performing press ups

Keep it up: Jack kicked a toy panda around as she showed off his bear skills on the carpet

Crystal the monkey upstages The Hangover 2's leading men at movie's premiere

Friday, May 20, 2011
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Monkeying around: Ken Jeong poses with Crystal the monkey at the premiere of The Hangover Part II at Grauman's Chinese theatre in Hollywood

Her pink dress was complete with ruffles and carefully accessioned with a pearl necklace.

But it wasn't Crystal's outfit that stole the show at the premiere of the Hangover 2 last night, but the fact she's a monkey.

The newest cast member of the hotly anticipated sequel to the The Hangover made quite an impact on her arrival in Hollywood.

Here I am! Crystal jumps for the cameras in front of crowds of fans

Dressed in a glamorous gown, Crystal worked the black carpet like a pro and was quick to put her cast members in the shade in their unsightly selection of suits.

The movie's four male leads arrived to excited cheers from awaiting fans, but their choice of two-piece suits left a lot to be desired.

Premiere guests descended on the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles and could not wait to be one of the first to see the movie's sequel.

Show stopper: Crystal the monkey steals the show in her pink dress at The Hangover 2 premiere in Hollywood last night

Dressed to impress: Crystal the monkey was a huge hit on the black carpet at last night's World Premiere of The Hangover 2 in Hollywood

Funny man Zach Galifianakis joined his three male co-stars on the black carpet in a less than sophisticated 80's style shiny grey suit.

But before the fashion police could descend on the bearded comic, heart throb Bradley Cooper raised the bar by joining him on the red carpet in a nasty double-breasted brown version.

Not one to make his co-stars look bad, The Office star, Ed Helms arrived in an equally undesirable pink and blue tartan tie teamed with a powder blue suit.

Style envy: Crystal the monkey tries to sabotage Kristen Bell's glossy hair when she jumped on the actress's shoulder and took a firm grip on her head and face

Black carpet beauties: Kirsten Bell, left, and Sasha Barrese looked sensational in their choice of glamorous above-the-knee dresses last night

Monkey business: Crystal lapped up the attention from photographers and fans as she jumped around in her little pink dress

Whoever was responsible for dressing the film's leading men was surely off sick yesterday, so it's a good job Crystal was on hand to distract guests in her miniature gown.

Fortunately, the female cast members also helped to tip the balance nicely when they arrived in a glittering selection of gorgeous evening gowns.

One of film's leading ladies, Sasha Barrese, who looked radiant in a red and white print mini dress and showed off her long, tanned legs with a pair of towering nude high heels.

Get ready for part II: The sequel is about to hit cinemas and is said to be funnier than the first

She was joined in the style-winning stakes by Forgetting Sarah Marshal star, Kristen Bell, who looked sensational in a layered peach and grey cocktail dress.

Kristen's envious ensemble was clearly a little too much for Crystal the monkey to bare as she later attacked the blonde actress when she jumped up onto her shoulders and ruffled her perfectly styled hair.

Does not suit you sir! Zach Galifianakis arrives at the premiere of The Hangover Part II at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood last night

Style offence: Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms arrive at the highly anticipated premiere of The Hangover 2 in less than stylish suits

Another male actor who raised eyebrows in his poor suit choice was Hollywood superstar, Robert Downey Jr.

The Iron Man actor's choice mix-match of red suit jacket, black trousers and giant biker boots left onlookers wondering whether he was in on some secret bad suit joke.

Fortunately, his gorgeous wife, Susan, joined the other female guests with her choice of stylish, black cocktail dress and glossy, tousled locks.

Runaway actors: Bradley Cooper runs down the street with a friend as screaming fans beg the heartthrob for his autograph

Guest who? Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey made a surprise guest appearance at the movie's premiere last night

Back for more: From left, Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha and Ed Helms in a scene from the new film set in Thailand

The exciting sequel sees the four male leads take a trip to Thailand to celebrate Stu's wedding.

Given the mayhem they encountered during their bachelor party jaunt to Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has planned a sedate, pre-wedding 'brunch' for the guys to toast his imminent nuptials.

Needless to say, Bangkok had bigger plans for the foursome as they embark on another chaotic string of comical, drunken escapades.
